Hotel in Grazalema; Room with a view

The first week of Novembre I was recharging my batteries in the Sierra de Grazalema with my brother and friends. A five days walk in a Western movie. At the end a day of climbing in El Chorro and Toon is reloaded!

The o.s.u.c. month has come to an end. Last week Johannes Stahl gave us a nice tour in Cologne, which concluded our surch for position in the arts.

As from 5th of oct i'm living in an abandoned appartmentbuilding for the open source urban campus. A severe post-academic situation in which we discuss the current position, of artists, artschools and artinstitutions. At the same time we try to focuss on our own work and position.

LMC 2011

I survived the Limburg Mountain Challenge 2011, a survival-race for mountaineers. The weather matched the absolute fabulous organisation. Although we had a very short nightrest, dawn at Brunssumerheide was a nice reward. After 100 km mountainbiking, swimming and canoïng some lakes, carrying logs, we finally arived at the secret finishspot at I-VY, Sittard. It's there we heard we had reached third place, which means my team has to organize next years LMC!

Last winter I searched in vain for the famous Radio Kootwijk-building in a snowy forest. Tomorrow I will be key-note speaker for CAL-XL in this unique monument. Mysterious ways leading to new horizons.

OSUC

Five years I had been the director of kuS, the most interesting and avant garde artcentre of the Netherlands. In short we will issue a publication about the projects of the past years.

Now I will take part in a new educational project: the Open Source Urban Campus, fortifying the academic community with a post-academic situation in which we try not to talk about art but about reality. Which is the role of the artist in these times?

O.S.U.C. will start in octobre in an abandoned appartmentbuilding in Bleijerheide.

Libraryproject presented today

The libraryproject 'boek1boek' has been launched nationwide today. I have made drawings for the interactive game 'Mijn boom blaft' and made a comic for todays presentation. Congratuliations SCHUNCK* Library!!

Last days of a director

This summer after five years I will quit my job as director of kuS. It was a marvellous time with nice exhibitions and many new friends. Now the latest exhibition, Lak aan Braak, is coming to an end and I am very proud of it again: thanks to the curator Jens Besser from Dresden who gave Heerlen several stunning murals!!

Tekenkingz will perform again!

Kompas Nederland invited the Tekenkingz to perform during 'Binnenstebuiten'in Landbouwbelang in Maastricht on 9th of July. I already drew something for the invitations.

Once more: Tejohaas draws the map of Parkstad

Next week this drawing will be hanging on the bridges of the new ring road of Parkstad, 11 x 2,5 mtr!

Mijn boom blaft

Together with Erik (HetVormlab) and SCHUNCK* education I have been working on a interactive game 'Mijn boom blaft'. Children can learn to make words or draw fantasywords. Check the website!

Workshop at I-Beta festival

First public appaerance of the famous Tekenkingz at I-bèta festival in Heerlen was a success:  
Drawing the map of Eutropolis: we all have stories to tell: where do we come from, what are the dreams we have, what is home and how do we see our neighbours. Once, long before Eutropolis, powerpointpresentations and creative industry, this region was below sealevel. And then there was Carboon, dinosaurs, Karl the Emperor, conference of Vienna and I-beta. We will try to draw a comic of Eutropolis together, in which all these stories will become one. The ‘Tekenkingz Eutropolisstrip pt.1’

During the I-Beta event in Heerlen the Tekenkingz will be trying to draw a map of Eutropolis with help of the audiance.

The sewer turbine nearly finished

The 'rioolturbine' project of Joep (city of Heerlen) is nearly finished. My contributions have been the animation with Bram, the logo design and this construction (photo) which helps to explain what it's all about. Thingies are actually movable, kidsfriendly!

Yesterday the animation was shown at the energy-fair and the local television made an item in which it was shown as well! Thanx Bram and Laurien for the great job.

For all dutch climbers who don't have a photo of the summit of Mont Blanc: now it's in Heerlen at SCHUNCK* . It plays a leadrole in the movie of Mels van Zutphen which we will show at DMFF.
More news: we have 60 more seats for the festival!
